Visionstream Australia Pty Ltd (Visionstream), part of Leighton Holdings Ltd, today announced that it had successfully secured a contract with Optus for civil and services work in the deployment of its LTE (Long Term Evolution) mobile network.

The contract, which has an approximate potential value of A$240 million, sees Visionstream as the preferred supplier for the civil and services upgrade to over 1200 existing Optus mobile sites and for new sites across Australia. Works include radio design, site acquisition, site design, construction, installation, commissioning and optimisation of the Optus mobile network.

“This contract recognises Visionstream’s expertise in providing end to end solutions to the telecommunications and utilities industries – adding value through innovative construction, engineering and project management approaches.”

Visionstream and Leighton have a long and successful history with Optus, commencing with the construction of the national Optus Network, undertaking upgrades to the 3G mobile network and currently, Visionstream maintains Optus’s reef network in Northern QLD.

Commencement of works, planning and mobilisation will start in the coming days.
